The following are some of the results Jay Norton obtained for clients in DUI cases in 2023. This list only includes DUI cases and not any of the results we have obtained in defending other types of cases. Also, this list only includes DUI cases that resulted in dismissals or acquittals and does not include the favorable results we have obtained for clients that involved resolution by plea or diversion. It is extremely important to remember, though, that past performance does not guarantee or predict future results. Every case is different, and each must be judged on its own merits. No expectation of similar results in other cases should be implied by this information.
City of Prairie Village v. S.W.: Client was stopped for multiple traffic violations and was removed from his car for field sobriety testing. After allegedly failing the tests, the client was arrested and taken to the police department where he agreed to submit to a blood test. The blood test came back positive for multiple prescription drugs. The DUI was dismissed prior to a trial.
State of Kansas v. D.J.: Client was sleeping in his car after being called in by security at a facility at which he had been receiving treatment. When driving away, he was stopped by police and given field sobriety tests. His blood was tested and was positive for amphetamines and benzodiazepines. He was charged with a felony DUI. The DUI was dismissed in Johnson County District Court.
City of DeSoto v. P.B.: Client was stopped for traffic infractions and given field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to the Johnson County Jail. Client was found Not Guilty after trial in the DeSoto Municipal Court.
City of Lenexa v. G.R.: Client went off the road, down an embankment and into a parking lot where the vehicle struck 2 parked cars. He was given field sobriety tests and arrested. His blood came back positive for Marijuana and Methamphetamines. He was found Not Guilty after a trial.
City of Overland Park v. W.S.: Client stopped in the drive-through of a restaurant after being called in by another customer for being asleep at the wheel. He was given field sobriety tests. After being arrested and taken to the station, he blew a .088. The client went to trial in the Overland Park Municipal Court and was found Not Guilty of DUI by the court.
City of Gardner v. J.L.: Client stopped for speeding and erratic driving in Gardnder. He was arrested for DUI after field sobriety tests and given a blood test. DUI was dismissed before trial.
City of Overland Park v. M.G.: Client stopped for traffic infractions and was given field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. He was found Not Guilty after a trial.
City of Eudora v. B.H.: Client contacted by police because car was illegally parked outside of a bar. She was given field sobriety tests and arrested. She refused a breath test and a warrant was obtained for her blood. The blood draw revealed a .235 BAC. The DUI was dismissed prior to a trial.
City of Overland Park v. P.E. Client contacted after a disturbance at a convenience store. He was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DUI. The case was dismissed on the trial date.
City of Lawrence v. J.M.: was in a bad rollover car accident. She was arrested for DUI and blew .241 on the breath test at the jail. She was found not guilty after a trial.
City of Overland Park v. D.J.: Client was involved in 3 separate car accidents and was arrested after fleeing the scene. A warrant was obtained for his blood revealing marijuana and Xanax in his system. He was found Not Guilty of DUI after a trial.
City of Kansas City, Kansas v. C. J.: Client ran into the back of another car and was given field sobriety tests. There was an open container in his car. DUI dismissed prior to trial.
City of Lawrence v. T.M.: Client was stopped for speeding and racing another vehicle. He was arrested for a DUI and eventually given a blood test. DUI dismissed prior to trial.
City of Kansas City, Kansas v. W.G.: Client was found asleep in his vehicle, stopped in the middle of the road, with the vehicle in gear. He admitted drinking and there was an open fifth of whiskey in his car. He was arrested for DUI and taken to the jail. DUI was dismissed before trial.
City of Olathe v. D.W.: Client wrecked into 3 cars in a parking garage and was given field sobriety tests. He was arrested and took a breath test at the station. The DUI was dismissed at the trial date.
